Install and scan
Install Pandectes on your store. It scans your storefront for cookies, local storage and pixels straight away.
Review the declaration
The app builds your cookie declaration from the scan, with each cookie described from our cookie database.
Publish it on a page
Add the declaration to a page of your store with the Pandectes Declaration theme block, and link it from your footer.
Not a template: a policy that keeps itself current
A copied cookie policy goes out of date the day you add an app or a pixel. The Pandectes cookie declaration is built from your store’s own cookies and follows every change.
Updates after every scan
When a scan finds a new cookie, or one changes, the declaration updates itself. A last-updated date shows when it last changed.
Every cookie explained
Each cookie is listed with its name, purpose, expiry and the domain that sets it, described from our cookie database rather than by you.
The same categories as your banner
Cookies are grouped as strictly necessary, functionality, performance and targeting, the categories your visitors choose from in the banner.
In your shoppers’ languages
Cookie descriptions are curated in multiple languages, so the declaration reads well for international shoppers.
Your store’s look
The declaration takes on your theme’s fonts and colours. Add your own styles in the theme’s stylesheet if you want more.
Your own words on top
Add an introduction above the list to explain your store’s cookie practices. Add cookies the scan can’t see by hand.
Add it to your store
Two ways to publish your cookie declaration, depending on your theme.
Online Store 2.0 themes
Create a page template, add the Pandectes Declaration section to it, and assign the template to your cookie policy page. No code.
Other themes
Paste a two-line snippet into your cookie policy page’s HTML, and the declaration loads into it.
Included in every paid plan
The cookie declaration comes with every paid Pandectes plan, from Plus at $9 a month, together with the consent banner, consent logs and geolocation. Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial.
Cookie policy questions, answered
What is a cookie policy generator?
A tool that writes your cookie policy from the cookies your website actually uses. Pandectes scans your Shopify store, describes each cookie it finds from its cookie database, and publishes the result as a cookie declaration on a page of your store.
Does the GDPR require a cookie policy?
The GDPR gives people the right to be informed about how their personal data is used, and cookies can collect personal data. So your store should explain which cookies it uses, why, and for how long, and how visitors can change their consent. A cookie declaration covers the list of cookies; your privacy policy covers the rest.
How is this different from a cookie policy template?
A template is a document you fill in once, and it goes out of date as soon as you add an app, a pixel or an analytics tool. The Pandectes declaration is built from a scan of your store and updates after every scan, so it lists the cookies your store sets today.
Do I need to update my cookie policy when my store changes?
No. When a scan finds new or changed cookies, the declaration updates itself, and its last-updated date changes with it. You can also run a scan yourself after adding an app.
Where should I display my cookie policy?
On its own page, linked from your store’s footer so it can be reached from every page. The setup guide shows how to add the page and the footer link.
Which plan includes the cookie declaration?
Every paid plan, from Plus up. Each starts with a 7-day free trial.
