Facebook Pixel and Limited Data Use for Shopify
Meta's Limited Data Use (LDU) tells Facebook to restrict how it stores and uses data from visitors in California, as the CCPA expects. Pandectes adds it to your Facebook Pixel for you, with one setting and no code. Read the guide.
How it works
Turn on Limited Data Use
In the app's auto-blocker, turn on the Facebook Pixel integration with its Limited Data Use option.
Pandectes flags the pixel
Pandectes adds the dataProcessingOptions parameter to your Facebook Pixel, which asks Meta to apply Limited Data Use.
Meta limits the data
Meta works out which visitors are in California and restricts how their data is stored and processed, so it isn't treated as a sale.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Limited Data Use?
It is Meta's data processing option for the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). When it is on, Meta limits how it stores and processes data from visitors in California, so sharing that data with Meta through your pixel isn't treated as a sale.
Who needs it?
Stores that advertise on Facebook or Instagram and have visitors in California. The CCPA gives California residents the right to opt out of the sale of their data, and it applies to businesses that market to them, on Facebook too.
Does it affect my ads?
Yes. Meta warns that retargeting and measurement are limited for visitors under Limited Data Use. Pandectes applies it to every visitor Meta identifies as being in California, so they are left out of remarketing, which can lower campaign performance there.
Which plans include it?
Facebook Limited Data Use is included in the Plus plan and above. See the plans.
