Microsoft Clarity integration for Shopify

Microsoft Clarity gives you heatmaps and session recordings, and in the EU it needs your visitors' consent first. Pandectes passes each visitor's choice to Clarity's Consent API, so Clarity sets its cookies only once the visitor agrees. Read the setup guide.

How it works

  1. Turn on Consent Mode in Clarity

    Consent Mode is on by default for visitors from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland. For a global store, turn off the Cookies option under Settings, then Setup, in your Clarity dashboard.

  2. Turn on the integration

    In the app, open Integrations, configure Microsoft Clarity and switch it on. Add your Clarity project ID and Pandectes loads the Clarity script for you.

  3. Consent reaches Clarity

    When a visitor answers your banner, Pandectes grants or denies Clarity's analytics and ad storage to match, and calls the Consent API.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens when a visitor declines?

Clarity switches to cookieless mode. It doesn't set its consent-dependent cookies or track across sessions, and only limited, non-identifying data may be collected.

Can a visitor accept analytics but not advertising?

Yes. The two Clarity permissions are separate, so a visitor who accepts performance cookies and declines marketing grants analytics storage and denies ad storage.

Do I have to add my Clarity project ID?

No, but without it you need to load the Clarity script on your store yourself. Pandectes still sends the consent signals, and they take effect once the script is on the page.

How do I check that it works?

In your browser's console, run:

Before consent, analytics_storage and ad_storage show as DENIED. After you accept in the banner, they follow your choice. The Clarity guide has the details.
